Escan and the Mancha-Júcar Centro Association organized an in-person workshop attended by 16 participants, including local authorities and residents interested in promoting energy communities. This event took place within the framework of the European POWER-E-COM project and the OTC Mancha-Júcar, whose joint goal is to encourage the creation and consolidation of energy communities in the region.
During the session, held on May 8, 2025, time was devoted to discussing the business model, the barriers energy communities may face, and the next steps for the Mancha-Júcar association. The workshop helped clarify key concepts and define strategies to advance the local energy transition.
Among the main conclusions, it was highlighted that each municipality within Mancha-Júcar will receive support to launch its own local energy community. In addition, Escan provides external technical assistance under the POWER-E-COM project, while the Mancha-Júcar association, in close coordination with Escan, will accompany each municipality in developing its energy community. The session also explained how to make collective self-consumption viable and the differences between self-consumption and an energy community. Finally, Escan informed participants about the possibility of accessing public subsidies through the “CE Implementa” program, aimed at photovoltaic projects.
As a next step, it was agreed to develop informational and training sessions to raise awareness of the different energy communities and strengthen their implementation.
