Escan Energy Consultants has participated as a strategic advisor in an expert mission alongside the Sofia Energy Agency (SOFENA), with the aim of strengthening the development of energy communities in the Bulgarian capital.
During the mission, the Escan team worked closely with SOFENA and various local stakeholders, facilitating the analysis of Sofia’s energy and regulatory context, the exchange of experiences and best practices, and the identification of opportunities and barriers for energy communities.
The mission included stakeholder conferences and roundtables with political representatives, where the real potential of energy communities and the regulatory challenges they face were highlighted. It also marked the launch of the first energy community in Sofia, in collaboration with municipal authorities.
This partnership reaffirms Escan’s commitment to a just energy transition and its ability to guide complex processes toward sustainable, community-centered solutions.
